The One-Page Prayer:
A Prayer to Khunu Lama Rinpoche
Composed by Khunu Lama Rinpoche Himself
THUP-TEN DRI-MA-MEY-PA DÜ-TSI’I PEL
O Splendor of the ambrosial nectar of the Sage’s stainless Teachings,
LEK-PAR TAM-PA DAM-PA DU MAY ZHAP
At the feet of many well-versed sublime beings,
GO SUM GÜ-PA TSUK-GI-GYEN ZHIN TEN
With respect of the three doors that treated them like a crown ornament, you sought guidance:
TEN-DZIN GYEL-TS’HEN ZHAP LA SÖL-WA DEP
At the feet of Tenzin Gyeltsen, I pray.
DRA DANG TS’HAY-MA LA-SOK RIK-PAY-NAY
O Splendor of studying the fields of knowledge such as grammar and logic,
LAP-SUM SEL-WAR TÖN-PA DAM-PAY ZHUNG
The holy texts which clearly teach the three trainings,
RIK-PA-DZIN-PAY DE-NÖ T’HÖ-PAY PEL
And the scriptural collection of the Vidyādharas:
TEN-DZIN GYEL-TS’HEN ZHAP LA SÖL-WA DEP
At the feet of Tenzin Gyeltsen, I pray.
MAY-JUNG CHHAK DZOK U-MA LAM-DRAY DANG
Because you continually applied with devotion the vital essence of the instructions
ZHI-JEY DÜ-KHOR LA-SOK DAM-PAY CHÜ
Such as the amazing Mahāmudrā, Mahāsandhi, Mādhyamaka, Lamdray, Zhijey, and Kālachakra,
TAK-JOR GÜ-PAY LO-DRÖ YÖL-GOR KHYIL
Your wisdom-vessel was filled:
TEN-DZIN GYEL-TS’HEN ZHAP LA SÖL-WA DEP
At the feet of Tenzin Gyeltsen, I pray.
This one-page prayer is found in the biography of Khunu Rinpoche called ‘Stairway to Liberation’ (thar pa’i them skas) as a supplement on page 99.
